so i finally replaced my RCA cables myself

so i finally replaced my RCA cables on my technics...did the whole soldering and such. i thought it was gonna be extremely hard, but it was a pretty easy job. didn't realize how easy it was, and spent a total of 15 bucks for the soldering iron and the solder...fookin beats paying 100+ bucks to get that shit fixed...so excited!!!

it's just as easy to make your own cables, circuits, mixers, turntables, etc.... it's the parts and instructions that are lacking.

did you just buy some normal RCA cables and solder them in?

I read somewhere that you need "grounded" RCA cables..and you had to solder a part of it to a ground in the deck..is that right?

no special cable required
Just a normal twin RCA
cut the ends off them and solder them in.

It really is easy.

You use grounded ones if you are replacing the earth wire

what exactly are the advantages of soldering the rca cables in? it would seem like more of a hassle to move them when they are together like that. also, if someone was to do this, wouldn't they want to make sure the rca cables were of premium quality (not necesarily 'monster cables' but just of a proper enough width or whatever to ensure maximum quality?

as for quality, i thought the quality of a wire/connection was only as good as its weakest 'link' or section. and maybe im wrong, but aren't the ends of the rca's pretty big, meaning most quality lost would be due to the actual wire and not the connection area?? im not the most knowledgable of sound technicalities, so any knowledge shared would be great-

Stupidist thing about the technics. Built in wires are gay! Do any of the technics not have them? As for me, should I ever get Technics, and the cables break, I wouldn't bother replacing them, I'd customize them and make RCA plugs at the back for easy access plugging. Has anyone undergone such a project?

See that still dangles at the back and is prone to twist and find its way off the circuit. You need to solidly screw in some kind of plug.

What am I on about? Don't even have a pair of technics and I'm already talking about modding them...

the rca cables must be soldered because they are "built in", as in they are soldered inside the turntables when you buy them

the ends of the rca wires may be pretty big but being a connection they can get dirt and oxidation between the 2 bits of metal which can make the connection inferior

The "weakest link" analogy dosent really hold up in electronics because the effects are additive, as a very crude example (these numbers are just for an example and are no way accurate) if your rca connection has a resistance of 1 ohm and your wire has a resistance of .1 ohm the total resistance is 1.1 ohm, if your connection has a resistance of 1 ohm and the cable has a resistance of .5 ohm the total resistance is 1.5 ohm, if we used the "weakest link" principle both configurations would be equal because they are limited by the rca connection, this is clearly not the case
