Hi

I'm about to buy a pair of CDJ1000 MK2s (probably), but don't particularly want to spend £1200 if the units will die a few days after the year so I can't repair them on warranty. Has anyone had a pair of CDJ1000s for a while who can comment on their longevity? Also, any comments on pioneers support and repair?

It's difficult to comment on the longevity of the product when you consider it hasn't been on the market for that long.

That said most Pioneer products have been done to hold the test of time.

In passing it's good to know that the first series of CDJ 1000's ( with the different pitch range then the MarkII ones ) was known for having number of problems and being less reliable considering the amount of optical lens issues that people had. That's a problem of the past it appears ( a number of mechanical parts are different in the MKII's ).


You must take into account that this is pretty much considered the industry standard and is on the roster of most djs who play cds exclusively. I don't know if I believe in power in numbers but the fact that they are able to take good beatings globally overall means they must be pretty trust worthy.


Go ahead buy them you won't have to worry about a thing.

Lastly because of it's cd playing nature, it's certainly a more fragile item then say a Technics record turntable because there's much more precision involved and there's more of a potential for wear and tear.

I know that CD decks in clubs need servicing every so often but they do take a beating.
With regards to home use I couldn't tell you, but it all depends on the motor as I'm sure it will be the first thing that goes. But they are always replacable but couldn't tell you the cost.

Haven't had any issues with mine and I know quite a few people who have had them for years now. (CDJ1000 Mk1)

you could always buy the denons with modular parts so its easy to swap things out.

Yup, Denons are a great alternative and considered better by a lot of DJs.

I've had my MK2 for two years without any problems whatsoever. I've also never heard of anyone having problems with one.
