EQ Claps for Trance?

Hello,
Anyone knows a good tutorial to EQ a clap for Trance? I have been having a lot of issues with that matter .
Thanx in advance .

Probably a silly question, but why don't you just use the ole' fashioned sweeping technique?

Mr. Frog, hahaha.

- Take the instrument/sample you want to eq and put it on repeat (with a clap, I'd say a series of 8th or 16th notes)
- Start looping it - preferably against at least a kick+bassline, or if your track is already done, just mute the existing clap and create a new track with the above pattern. (If the sound occurs very frequently in the track, you can usually skip this step and the one before)
- Start with the low shelf; turn the frequency as low as it will go, and the gain as high as it will go, and just sweep the frequency slowly across the spectrum until you hit a "sweet spot".
- If you never hear a sweet spot, then it means you can't improve the sound, so forget the low shelf. If you do hear the sweet spot, then adjust the gain to whatever sounds right.
- Repeat the exact same thing for midrange (bandpass) and high shelf eq.
- For the BP eq, before you start your sweep, set the Q value as high (i.e. narrow) as possible, and when you find the sweet spot, you lower the Q as well as the gain.
- This applies when you're eq-ing *up* - for any of these steps, you can do the exact same thing *down* (just set the gain as low as possible instead of high)

FYI, this isn't *my* technique, I take no credit for it. It's really pretty simple when you think about it, and I've found it to work just as well for kicks, claps, madness-inducing supersaw leads and just about anything else.
