if u want to take the vocals out of ur favourite tracks contact the original artist and ask for it...

I've heard it can be done, if you have the instrumental version of the track.
You syncronize the 2 tracks, and 'pull' the vocals outta it. Can't remember the exact technique.. Can anyone confirm this?

the best you can do is use several good bandpass filters, sme good parametrics and a paragraphic eq, and a gate, compressor and various other things.
Will be useable-depending on your approach to prodution and mixing- but in isolation you will hear elements of the original still.
Been asked a million times before- and I am sure you wont be the last one either.

Phase inversion is not particuarly great- would work fine if every single instrument or part was confined to a set frequency that didnt overlap or clash- but this is the real world.

I gave that a shot.. played the track with the vocals in it with Adobe audition and when they started singing.. I hit the search button.. but no vocals got taken out of the song.. can you write a FAQ for this tool?

Kind of.. dependant on many factors..

1) most instrumentals are not just the album version with missing lyrics, the BPM may be slightly different.. there may be added instruments/sounds.

2) the album version will have different compression/effects than the instrumental.. so the phase inversion wont quite clean it all up

you will never get an accapella IMO good and clean enough to use on a professional mix, but its good enough for stuffing around for the most part.
