making a mix CD. Which software to use?

Instead of recording a mix, this time I want to input the songs perfectly in order into a program and manipulate the whole mix.

Which software would be best to use? Other than Ableton live. Can Adobe Audition do this?

I used cubase to do this the few times i have done it.

1) Find the BPM of your original track
2) Paste in Cubase project
3) Time stretch using cubase
4) Line up your songs
5) Edit away

It can be a pain in the ass to get them lined up perfectly... mostly due to the fact that you might have the BPM of your original track miscalculated, and thus your timestretch will be incorrect.

Good luck

Just checked out your site. I like your clean studio/dj setup! Your dad pay for all your toys?

And your aviator shot kinda reminds me of sasha at buenos aires!

i second that, i've seen worse...

as far as programs go why don't you just use mix meister, then you don't have to mix at all, just match your songs and let software take you for a ride. at least if you're using a program like virtual dj, traktor...etc you are still making transitions - the beatmatch (which in some ways is overrated)...

I'm more of a producer than a DJ and I want to incorporate as much creativity as possible. It will be faster and more interesting to lay out a mix on the computer than to go through hours of recording. I can be more creative this way and give out a mix that my friends can enjoy more.

My goal is to make a unique mix with superlative quality, not mold to some ideal "DJ" sect.

tmdrums17 - thanks! I've tried cubase and it may be the best to use

alligator - thanks for the tip. mix meister seems like a good program, but I already have cubase so I think I'll stick with that
