trance in your country

As you can see I'm from Milano (Italy). Yesterday night I was wondering with my friend Armin (another TA user) about the music scene in our country: here in Italy trance is a complete foreign and the EDM scene is fullfilled of italodance (I think someone of you knows Gabry ponte, here you can find some samples: http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/180596-01.htm).
However the music scene is dominated by pop, hip hop & other "MTV like genres". Into most of the clubs is played some house, hip hop & retro 70's-80's.
All the pubs & other attractions are always playin' the same genres as telled before.

So that we are afraid of the situation we were wondering if somewhere in the other countries, common pubs & similar are playing trance...

Is really simple to find it in the nederlands or in the UK?

we reallt are obsessed by "mtv like genres" in the pubs!!! HELP! Give us a bit of hope!

tnx u so much.

I thought that was absolutely awesome! And it shows finally, that you can enjoy electronic music without any stimulances and still have a great night! Finally we can leave that image behind that you need any kind of drugs to enjoy electronic music.

Pop, rock, r'n'b, hiphop & rap are pretty dominating here in the mainstream scene.. as radio and regular night clubs too. Trance and other forms of decent EDM get occasional play in them but mostly only in certain clubs, events and special EDM related radio shows.

Then again Finnish EDM scene is very strongly run by different forms of trance by such names as DJ Orkidea, Miika Kuisma, DJ Tab, Slusnik Luna, Super8 and several others. Then there's Jori Hulkkonen for the house/deep house/other loungy stuff, Mr Velcro Fastener and Imatran Voima for the electro fans, Giant Robot & Pepe Deluxé for fans of something in between.

So i don't see the situation TOO dark here, even if trance itself isn't at its best right now anywhere.

While trance has fallen out of the commercial realm a lot in the UK (a few years ago it was regular to see trance in the Top 20 or 40), it's still a strong presence in the dance music scene in the UK, with a strong following in the clubs and festivals, and compilations still charting quite regularly.

It really doesn't matter where you live as long as you have a car. I don't and it's a pain going to clubs

But yeah big festivals are a different matter

London for one has an excellent choice for a bunch of trance nights, some of the old main cities have waned a bit (nottingham, birmingham), but on a whole, even if it is just little nights, there is plenty to be had in the UK
