so yeah.

it's fucking really hard to get a decent job even if you have the proper training.

what gives?

i was under the impression if you were healthy, had the papers, and were ready to work, you would be hired immediately.

It most likely depends on the specific trade you are trying to practice.

I know lots of friends who have just picked up the equipment and went dry walling for a while to make some quick cash. Another one of my friends has been doing it since he was 17, with almost no paper work. He was only accepted into the union at the age of 21.

Maybe it helps to know people.

Are you trying to get into construction?

oh shit. u didnt know?!?

its impossible to get a job in construction unless u know how.

our unions protect our jobs baby.

heres the secret. lets say u want to become a plumber. dont just call any plumbing company. u go to a mechanical company. lets say brady mechanical for example. and u go into the shop and say listen im looking for a job as a shop boy. boom ur hired on the spot most of the time. u work as a shop boy for 2 weeks and show them, ur not a slacker and u can hold ur own. then they put u under the union and u go outside and work on site. after that finding a job is as easy as calling ur union and saying "hey i need a job"

why would you go to a mechanical company if you want to be a plumber?

They probably looked at you and thought
" This chicks boyfriend is WAAY cooler than her, let's offer him the job"

Joking aside, be persistant and they'll realize you really want to work for them. Make some calls too.

ha ha ha ha

LMAO.

I am actually talking about Ray tho. So he can get a job, not me.

So maybe I should go apply and say that my boyfriend is cooler than me so you can hire him instead.

mechanical companies are kinda like one stop shops that either have all trades working for them (plumbers, HVAC, electricians..etc)....or they're a contractor that will take on an entire job then sub out the work.....just become an electrician then you'll always be working
