Monitors for mixing?

Just wondering what you's guys thought were the best monitors for mixing on, basically looking for good bass performance within a price range of £180 - £250

i had the alesis and i hated them. no bass at all. i was straining trying ot mix with them.

i returned them and picked up the rickit 8s and i love them. great bang for the buck.

I have the Rokkit RP-5's myself, and like them a lot. I just added the RP-10s sub, and now it's quite nice... but my neighbors probably don't agree.

I got the alesis just now but i use them for production , so its kinda difficult having to move them all the time and didnt see the point in buying another set of them really as i want something that i can just totally use for mixing

I have the RP-5's as well and love them. I worry sometimes that they are too loud for my neighbors, I can't imagine what that sub is like!

When I first turned it on the volume was about 1/3 of the way up, and it was obscene. I now keep it at a quarter turn up! The good thing is that the crossover keeps the bass from going to the RP-5's, so you don't overdrive them.

I don't understand that either... my Alesis M1 Actives give out wonderful sound on all frequencies with great punchy bass and are certainly loud enough for my bedroom, even with the volume dials on the back set a little bit under full value, so I can't really see the reasoning behind saying they have no bass. Although, I have read some complaints of the Alesis monitors having factory defects right out of the box.
