CHAPTER 1 - The Meaning of Progressive Music

CHAPTER 1 - The Meaning of Progressive Music

TOPIC 1:

Symmetry

a type of perfect symmetry can exist in a space where the 2 opposing sides are perfect complements of each other rather than being identical. a graphical representation of this can be observed in the rhythmical use of repetition in trance music on an oscilliscope i've seen in winamp. of course aside from trance this can be easily simplified into african hand drums. but there is beauty in adding the same rhythmical repetition in synth form. or maybe im just high

1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 - a progressive number chain

refer to Fibonacci Numbers

and BT - Fibonacci Sequence

symmetry is observed in the pyramid formed by the diagonal breakdown of the numbers in pascal's triangle

as we can see, the connection of the oscilloscope and the pyramid is seen in the fibonacci sequence. fibonacci numbers form a "chain" similar to the spectrometer of a song. such a translation of numbers and graphics into musical and aural format is redefining much, yes. especially bc it makes no sense. (none of it would be correct in a mathematical or graphical way. there's no way i can prove any of this bc im high). unless we apply the philosophic method. just make your own philosophy. you can cram anything in there.

and thus we have symmetry, Sequence, and Synth (and Drums). the three sess,

SSS(D)

art, math, music

also note http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierpinski_triangle
thats awesome. especially the part about relating to the pascal's triangle and odd even numbers

btw. if yur not high, you wont understand 50% of what ive said. so good

look after a while it starts to make sense.

im surprised there's no further mathematical, scientific, or philosophical discussion on the connection between music and other weird stuffs.

i mean come on! fibonacci numbers?!! thats pure genius

does this apply to non-edm music like progressive rock? I never listen to rock so I wouldn't know.
