Converting a .WMV Movie to DVD

Converting a .WMV Movie to DVD

I have quite a large movie around 1Gb in about 12 Different Scene's, and Im trying to Convert it so
it will play on DVD DISC on a DVD PLAYER. Im a complete Amateur in this but I have been reading up on quite a lot but there is so much information. Anyways if you can help then that would be great.

Firstly I have purchased this Video Converter and Burner seemed ok and works quite well.
http://www.avsmedia.com/VideoConverter/index.aspx

The Original .WMV movie was High Quality something like 29.5fps , 5?? x 4?? resolution you can tell it
has been ripped from a DVD. I used the converter to do a Sample scene I selected High Quality PAL, which
increased the resolution to something like 700 x 600, after 20 Minutes of Converting frame by frame I was left with a 400Mb .VOB file from the original 70Mb .wmv I burned it using the tool and give it a shot. Everything worked fine but you could tell the Quality Had screwed up a little bit, It looks like it has been stretched and was not a Fine as I wanted it should be. It seems like the conversion quality had been reduced.

Any help would be appreciated.

might have something to do with the encoding quality of the original format to te wmv file.

by trying to convert back to dvd and also increasing the screen resolution you will inevitably experience quality loss.

try following this tutorial (dload the shareware application) and see how you go: http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/58/59/

however if you continue to increase the resolution of the output you would expect that quality will degrade.

there are other tools/techniques at http://www.videohelp.com.

i use nero plugins and they usually get the job done but transcoding a full length movie takes hours. but is definatly worth the effort.
