UPDATED [ibiza] jex - Regret (Missed Sunsets Original Mix)

Not much to say about this one. I find it interesting to note that of the last five tracks I've submitted, none has been in the same style. I kind of need to work on my consistancy.

Hi Jex - ok ill return the favour - you looked terribly lonely down there!

Just listening now......

I know this isnt going to be my style...a bit slow..
Nice flowing intro though,
Taking a while to get going IMO,
here comes the break - nice melody....
reminds me of 'Another chance' a bit..!
Its a nice and relaxing tune - I can imagine this playing in the background in a bar in Ibiza in the early hours.

Overall its a nice track - the only negative is, it gets a bit repetative really - the same 3 notes most of the tune - it really needs some more elements and chord changes etc to keep it alive.
Other than that... good work!!

hey, i decided to check this out.. at first i thought it might be chilled out or something because of the ibiza reference. but then i realize naah that's not it... haha

anyway, i downloaded it and the intro is long as MessiahProject was saying, but it's ok.

i went to the kitchen to grab a beer but i could hear it in the background, but after the song gets going i kind of got into the groove and i like the acidy sounds and the groovy bass. so i listened to the whole thing and it was rather enjoyable, good job

Heya Jex.

Starts out with a bit of acid.

Very Funky tune that changes into a happy retro track.

Turn up the tempo just a tad.

Nice layering. A little repetitve.

good bass. great bass drum.

Could do with some more pads to heighten emotion during the first half of the track.

The pads in the second half of the track could be thinkened with some reverb effect.

Great elements in this one. Love the echoing poly.

Re: Re: [ibiza] jex - Regret (Missed Sunsets Original Mix)

Thanks for the comments so far, everyone. Yeh, it's a bit repetitive melody-wise, but then I like that, at least in my originals ('s why they're always so damn long). I may make a somewhat shorter mix with less repetition.

My roommate said about the same thing when I started this track. It was 117 then. Now it's 120, and I'm really conscious of the effects of going too fast now. I thought it was fine at 117. I do know that 125 felt too fast. The syncopated melody just lost its groove.

I also considered doing this. I decided against it, because I felt like mixing it would be a bitch. The piano and lead are already mingling too much as it is, and a pad would just add another variable.

I'm working on some vocalisations and edits now, though, so it should improve that section.

Updated the link. I've added some vocal elements sprinkled throughout the piece. Also added some trippy effects in the opening.

Is it too much, now?

No, I didn't do anything to make it less repetitive or shorter or faster. Call it artistic lisence.
