i personally own Technics and i love them...
so iv said this before... sure there are other turntables out there that could do the job for less money... but non of them have been around as long at Technics... mine have been around since the 80's im sure, and they run like new so really when you buy a Technics Turntable you know its going to work and its going to last

Hoenstly, I think you should look at everything on paper, i.e. specifications, and take notes on all the decks you look at. Look at torque, wow & flutter: those 2 are prolly the most important.....

THEN.....

Go play with all the decks you took notes on and go with the one that feels the best for YOU. IMO it does not matter what the wow & flutter, torque, etc if you can't mix on the deck because you don't like the feel of it. And vice versa, if you can mix perfectly on a belt-drive, then why not? as long as YOU are comfortable with it.

i was gonna go 4 tech's then chose the vestax pdx2300 mk2 pros & a love them! at the end of the day it just comes down to personal preferance!

just remember tech's might be industry standard, but there not the be all and end all of dj'ing

I prefer my stantons over technics everyday just because it has a different feel. I feel more comfortable mixing on them. Technics are awesome and last for a long time but I know some kid with some five year old str8-80s and they are working fine till this day. thats just my perspective. but then again when you are buying a more expensive table you are gonna be satisfied with whatver you get since you won't have to deal with the feedback and low torque that plagues cheap tables.

look at the str8-150s as an option too.

If you're going for the industry standard... get tech's or maybe numark ttx's.

if you're looking for decent budget tables, i would suggest stanton str8-150's, numark tt-500's, or maybe tt-200's.
