KISS 100 >>> Essential Mix?

Short and sweet >>> better than long and slow. Filler is a killer.

If you were a DJ would you rather play KISS 100 or Essential Mix?

More respected John Digweed or Pete Tong?

I would rather play KISS 100.

content is more important than the length of a show. If you can give me 4 hours of quality then great. If your half hour is crap then it's crap.

Diggers show is more for up-and-coming DJ's, while the EM is for those that are a little bigger.

I like the EM better, and if I was a DJ I'd want to play both.

Essential mix.

It's the more popular show, and playing it will get you more recognition, which is ideally what you're looking for when you play one of those radio shows.

doing an essential mix tho already means that you have recognition. that's why you get an essential mix.

kiss 100 is where you have an hour chance to show you deserve recognition.

not necessarily. There have been DJs on there that I'm sure none of us have heard. Personally, I'd take the example of sander k, and that how many of us had any idea who he was before his 2001 essential mix? It's still a place for the new DJs to break in, even though headliners still play the show. It's more of like a mix of DJs from all levels of success, whereas kiss 100 is almost exclusively up and comers.

Gabriel & Dresden, James Lavelle, and James Holden are just a handful of artists off the top of head that were introduced to me via brilliant Essential Mixes.

<<<<-------------------- Esssennntial MIX!

Coming from somebody who has both collections, its a totally different type of show.

Diggers plays new tracks, and the first hour is broken up, while the second hour is a guest mix. The essential mix is just 2 hours of music, straight up.

I pick both for different times, but i would much rather listen to 2 hours uninterupted
