Nomen Nescio - Accelerate (original mix)

Hey TA'ers

I am back with a new track "Accelerate" . I felt like making a bit of an energizer track, a bit M.I.K.E orientated, a couple of weeks ago and this is the endresult. Nothing all that special, I almost tossed it away because it is a bit too sharp in the hearing even after good EQ'ing. But friends and befriended DJ's liked it so just for fun I am posting it here Let's call this one an in between snack track.

I am working on a collab at the moment which is shaping up pretty nicely. Until we can share that result here on TA I thought I'd keep you guys posted on other stuff I was doing.

Anyways the first 7 minutes of Accelerate can be heard at:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pag...m?bandID=281691

I hope some of you will like it

Cheers everyone!

Commenting as I listen...
nice intro atmosphere.
The bassline is kinda standard. Didn't find anything special about this, although it makes a nice combo with the kick.
The buildup is very good, really keeps my interest.
2:00 is fucking nice! Great staccato lead synth... you know how to subtlely increase the intensity.. The title "Accelerate" fits somehow
Now the breakdown, I'm not a huge fan of these slow long breakdowns, but heh, not really a complaint... I dont like the flanged pad that much, but the synth starting at 4:30 is great.
The fill @5:29 is well done. After 6:00 when you got all the layers together, the tracks sounds really good, specially the pads are cool.
I think that this is your best track so far in my subjective ranking ... mastering is great, as always.
keep it up

i would probably call it something like 'lost in the landscape' or something similar... it gave me that type of vibe.

its got that nomen sound from the start.

nice kick that ive grown more and more fond of.

at first no simularity with m.i.k.e but now little things start to appear- vocal synth, plastic boy bass accompaniment. powerful strings. its got massive simularties with rank1's rmx of 'journey of life'

break is very nice. but melody isnt quite on a par with 'angels'

overall this is more to my liking than 'angels' cos its darker and very 'm.i.k.e' from 2002/3. beat is back and it works very well indeed! i love the bass accompaniment! it works so well.

i wouldnt say this would be out of place on the plastic boy album!

great work!

wa nice fx in the beginning. bassline needs more bass or more lower freqs.. een van de twee .. verder the flow is right
nice break.. nice arp's and gated synths,
very full sound around 2:43 really good!!
main-Break, I think the pad would do better without the phaser.. its a bit tooo much imo.. nice percs @ 3:53, good filter work.
the part from 4:52 where the melo changes is very standard these days, but I like it here. it works ! 6:00 great man!
keeps getting better after, nothing more else to say
except, the end, a bit sudden.. the only thing thats not good about the track.. but again thats just personal taste he !
veel suc6 nog verder!!

Thanks guys for your first comments, the track apparently is more appreciated then I thought it would be. Maybe it is just because it is not my usual style. I really thought of throwing it away

Cheers!

Hey Nomen

Storming track you've got here, bass is nice as is that kick. Buildup is smooth and the breakdown is pure sex too.
A few things i would add:

THe melody is nice, but would maybe change some notation after the 4th bar.
I think you should also fire everything you've got after the breakdown, hi hats percs etc, really go for it.
Mastering is excellent, very pro sound overall. Looking forward to this collab mate!

good track, i enjoy many elements of this track though the originality is a bit missing... sounds good though, very nicely arranged, and tho generic- pleasing to the ears.

You've got yourself a signature bassline there, but don't worry it's good.
I must agree with your own "sharp sound" comment there are a lot of high pitched synths in the buildup that im not too keen on.

Nice strings & entertaining FX during break. It's long but never gets boring. The buildup to the climax is nicely done.

The overall sound is excellent (except for those high pitched synths), but the melody doesn't quit catch me like "angels" did.
Of course the track you hear first always has this advantage, but still..

Great track, but it doesn't top Angels for me.

Also that Soundclick sucks dude. I prefer downloading tracks for later auditioning than always streaming them when i wanna listen again. Only the low quality version can be retrieved from the temp. internet files folder - but it's soo much hassle.

Keep it up and i'm curious for the results of the collab !

[EDIT]
@icone
Do you have a firewall running ? I've got the same problem with Zone Alarm , just disable (or configure) ZA for playback.

J.

Hey Nomen!

I kinda like the "sharpness" of this track... those hi-pitch synths remind me of some Ferry Corsten track.

I love when the bass changes.. that chord progression is full of attitude and energy!!

In the intro, when the snare is first introduced, it sounds like there is a bit too much reverb on it. This disappears once more elements are added.

Your build ups are HUGE. Nice phaser in the beginning of the break! I was sorry that it did not continue through the break.
You did a sweet job with harmonies in the break as well - that was refreshing.

Wow.. you've got the driving trancer down solid. Fine work Nomen!

Looking forward to hearing your upcoming collab,
Trev
