So I'm a bit bored and little out of my mind.
The Turtle and the Rabbit: A Korean folktale
There once lived a Sea King in an underwater kingdom. He was wise and benevolent and all his subjects loved him. But one day, he got sick. All the physicians in the underwater kingdom came to examine him but none can cure him.
Finally, one old physician with much experience said, "Your Majesty. I am sorry to say that there is no cure for your illness found anywhere in the underwater kingdom. However, I have heard that if you were to eat the liver of a rabbit, a land creature, it will cure you."
However, there was one problem. Most sea creatures cannot survive long on land. But a servant little known, the Turtle said, "Your Majesty. Let me volunteer. I can survive on land."
Equipped with a picture of rabbit in his hand, the Turtle swam ashore to land and began his search. After few days, he saw the Rabbit, exactly as described in his picture.
So he said, "Hello! Mr. Rabbit! Over here!"
The Rabbit, known for its cunning and distrust of possible predators said, "Who are you? What do you want from me?"
The Turtle replied, "I am Turtle and I am servant of wise Sea King who have ordered me to find you. My lord have heard of your great wisdom and cunning and believes that you will make an excellent advisor and wants to lift you up into high position and shower you with riches!"
The Rabbit was a bit sceptical, but the Turtle kept describing the wonders of the Sea Kingdom and how well he will be treated so the Rabbit agreed to come.
The Turtle lead the Rabbit to the shore and the Rabbit was alarmed. "Wait! Will I not drown in the sea?" he asked.
The Turtle smiled and said, "No, Mr. Rabbit. I have brought a magic pill that will allow you to breath underwater."
"Oh," said the Rabbit
So the Rabbit grabbed unto the Turtle's back and the Turtle dove into the sea. On the journey down, the Rabbit was amazed at the beauty of the Sea Kingdom and its wonderous buildings and creature inhabitants and he thought that he had it all set.
The Turtle and the Rabbit evetually arrived at the Sea King's grand palace and they were escorted to the Sea King.
The Rabbit was introduced and the old physician said, "Yes! This is the rabbit we're looking for!"
Suddenly the burly Sea King's guards grabbed the Rabbit who cried out, "Hey! What is going on here!?!"
The old physician replied, "I'm sorry Mr. Rabbit. Our Sea King is dying and he needs to have your liver in order to survive."
The Turtle who looked bashful because he had to lie to the Rabbit said, "Oh, Mr. Rabbit. Do not fear, for your sacrifice will be well remembered! We will make statues of you and many poems and songs will be written and sung forever for your heroic sacrice."
The Sea King nodded wisely.
But the Rabbit has not lost his wits despite the fear. He calmly said, "Oh, wise Sea King! Only if I knew! I would gladly sacrifice myself for your majestic glory, but alas, I have left my liver back in my home! Please! Allow me to travel back to land so that I may fetch my liver and return for you, Your Majesty."
The Sea King looked at the old physician who didn't know any better and said, "Your Majesty, I think we should let the Rabbit fetch his liver."
So, the Rabbit was granted permission to go back to land with the Turtle.
The Rabbit hopped onto the back of the Turtle and the Turtle swam ashore.
When they were back on firm land, the Rabbit got off the Turtle. The Turtle said, "Please, Mr. Rabbit. Be quick, for our Sea King is dying quickly."
But the Rabbit looked back and laugh and said, "You fools! Do you not know that no creature can live without its liver! I have tricked you! Goodbye you silly creature!"
And the Rabbit ran into the forest, leaving the Turtle in shock.
