Drop the record on phrase then start mixing while you ride the pitch.

Oh yeah.. thats good for a quick mix.. I prefer to at least get it matched.. which i usually do directly after I finishe the previous mix..
When I have 3+ sources at my disposal i like to have 2 tracks beatmatched and ready to go, then the hilarity begins

Yeah I wouldn't do that if I were mixing trance. And it does make for some rough mixes sometimes, but most people don't have a clue if I let a beat slip for half a second.
I do have an unhealthy obsession with mixing more tracks with less breakdowns as quickly as possible. It will be the end of me one day.

some djs suggest counting beats in ur head for like a min or 30 seconds...any multiple of 60 but that doesnt sound like smthng thas really useful...lol not to mention if u lose count halfway
the main thing is beatmatchin...the eq-ing is a skill that can b developed but doesnt sound as bad and a dj who cant match beats and sounds like a trainwreck
what i do is...i play the record...then put the second one on cue...scratch it a bit..i found that it helps me realize the speed of the song if i scratch it on cue and then pitch control ..then comes the artwork of eq-ing...but i do scrw up now and then
since first day i started spinnin..i improved alot however

i take a record, slap it on the turntable, beatmatch it, wait til the right time to drop it, release it, lower the eq, raise the fader, do some shit with the eq knobs to make it sound good, lower the outgoing fader, take record off and do the jesus pose
