One word Translation Please

Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me with a little translation.

Taken from the Homme et Son Pêche. The Line is something like:

"un grand rèvere, un farot"

I'm guessing on the spelling, but What does "Farot" mean? Is there a direct translation?

Babel is pretty mediocre, my Harap's is an order of magnitude slower, but the results are an order of magnitude more usefull.

But neither are very good for slang like "nom d'un chien", so I try to ask real people like you for things like that.(Harap's does have "nom d'un chien", so its probably not a good example )

Nope, but I do appreciate the Quebec perspective on reality, so I try to study it indirectly through their stories.

So far my favourite has to be "La Chasse Galerie". But i'll always have a soft spot for Surreal 3000 by Suzanne Martel.

Hmm, doesn't fit the context of the scene that well, but better than nothing. Merci d'avoir le trouver.

ok farot means a clothing item, it seems to be used in Cote d'ivoire.

" Le Farot, c’est aussi sexy. Des jupettes évasées, montées juste à la taille qui laissent apparaître le nombril ou le buste pour un bain de soleil à la plage. "

kind of a skirt

something else,

farot is also known as falot...

falot n. m.

Définition :
Sorte de grande lanterne portative qu'on porte habituellement au bout d'un bâton. Le falot permet de s'éclairer dans les rues. Le terme semble très peu usité en Nouvelle-France.

grossly a lantern on a stick

.... which one fits ?

hmm, well I wrote the title down wrong in this thread. It's actually
"Séraphin: un homme et son péché"

starring the beautiful Karine Vanasse! And she's just told her father that she wants to marry Roy Dupuis's character (is there a law in Quebec that Roy Dupuis has to appear in every movie?). In response to that her father goes into a bit of a tirade telling her how big of a loser he is, so he says

"un grand rèvere, un farot"

implying that he'll never make a good husband, or something to that effect.

So with three definitions: Jailer,Skirt,Lantern that don't really fit I'm thinking I probably heard the wrong word or something.
