- The main reason is the reliability, I used 19 year old Techs for years (I'm 20 BTW ) and sold them because... they had scratches on them and wanted new shiny ones to match my mixer hehe. They are build like tanks, virtually indestructible (unless you throw them of a 40 foot tall building, and even then...)
- The platter is stable, and heavy. I see most competitors try to imitate that, some come close but none have really succeeded to make it better yet.
- They have huge resistance to vibrations compared to the concurrence. Many people say the Vestax PDX-2000 is better and stabler, but in rough conditions (big sound systems on parties for example) they still feedback a lot easier than Techs.
- Fast speedup, and retain their speed like nothing else
- Easily tweakable and easy to calibrate. Changing pitch range, brake power, leds (yeah you can put everything in blue if you want), etc... If your pitch ever gets wacky, it's quite easy to calibrate them back (ask me if you want the details). You can even make a Quartz lock button for yourself, no need to buy an m3d
- the most practical : 90% of all clubs/gigs use them. If you have a lot of practice on equipment, you can get the most out of it.
