mute bass on synths help!

I'm having trouble with them. The thing is that it sounds too soft but is too loud or they're soft. I usually make the cutoff low to make that mute bass sound.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I understand correctly... I think you're talking about a sub-bass, right?

individually automate the volume on each note... pitch changes are much greater from note to note at such low frequencies.
