Learning on CD's, should I learn on TT's?

I'm getting the hang of mixing on my CD decks, i've had a friend recommend that I buy some TT's and learn how2 mix with vinyl, even if it is only for a short period. What do you think?

Also, if I do buy TT's sould I get good ones like Technics or just entry level direct drive? (I know it all depends on how long I intend to keep them, i'm a noob to mixing, help me!)

I doubt there's much need to go out and buy new turntables if you already have CD decks.

Choosing to spin using vinyl or CDs just comes down to personal preference, if you are enjoying yourself using CDs then carry on doing so without creating (possibly another) big dent in your wallet. Techs + vinyl ain't cheap

It seems like a lot more trouble than it's worth if you're planning on sticking with CDs.

id stay stick with cdjs, having cdjs and TT's ur gonna have the option to buy vinyl and digital downloads, downloading means u can get the songs cheaper and faster (before the vinyl is available). You'll never be able to justify to urself buying the vinyl over the download. To simply learn to mix with vinyl is not a good enough reason to do it.

stick with the cdjs and just become really good with them

I have trouble finding the mp3's of tracks I want, i use beatport and djdownload but they often do not have the tracks I am looking for. I'm willing to pay for the music but if I can't find it what can I do?

Also, I hope to play out sometime, probably by summer 2006 (my mate's a promoter and has promised me a slot when i'm good enuf ) but after reading about piracy issues and DJ's being wiped out, won't vinyl grant me the protection that it's proof I have bought the record, I read that even ppl DL legal mp3's are gettin fucked sometimes.

BTW wen I say CD Decks, they are Numark CDN22's, all they have is a jog wheel, pitch bend and pitch slider. I'm looking to upgrade soon anyway, either CDJ 200/800's or 1210's so hefty amounts will b spent anyway.

It's worth it then. I buy a lot of tracks off beatport and djdownload to save money, but I also buy a lot of tracks on vinyl that are unavailable for download.
