im about to rip out my crossfader and throw it out the window...

this is pissing me off.. over the last 2 weeks, my crossfader has gotten progressively worse and worse.. its only going from all the way on the right to the left, ch 1 to 2 i believe.. or vice versa..watever.. anyways it gets all crackly/static sounding and it sucks because im trying to record a demo and it sounds really tacky w/ the static in there.. so basically im leaving it in the middle and just using the volume controls to fade in and out.. but that defeats the purpose of having a crossfader and i don't have the money to buy my new mixer just yet.. is there any quick fix to make it not do that? should i go get a can of compressed air and spray around on the inside?

i don't use a crossfader

i feel i have more control over my mixes when i use the volume faders

to me, crossfaders are for scratch djs

i've heard that a quick cleaning might fix it.
uhm, don't know exactly how to clean crossfaders, but i'm sure someone around here does.

to tell you the truth, i just want a new mixer and this is a good excuse for me to go out and buy one.. all i gotta do is save up the cash.. my friend just got the pioneer djm-600 and its the fucking shit!! i'm in love w/ it and im going to get it.. but in the meantime while i'm saving up for it, i need to get my xfader fixed..

i also use the volume controls in my mixing but i use them in conjunction w/ the x-fader, i like having options.. not being forced to only use the volume controls

Most Trance DJ's dont use the crossfader for the mix
if you feel the Crossfader is left without purpuse when you mix without it
then dont.
Crossfader is mainly a scratch tool, And the volium faders are much more comfortable
They move more slowly which is good for a mix.
So until you get the Pioneer DJM-600 (*cough* Ownage *cough*)
use the volium faders.

there is another option: I used to have that problem until I got a mixer with a VC X-fader. There is some spray you can use to clean electrical contacts. You spray it in the fader and move it around a little, then it will most likely work fine for a couple of weeks. That should be enough to make a demo. Also, you can use the spray again then, but the noise will keep coming back...

thats what im going to do.. but only because the x-fader is messed up.. i don't only spin trance (i spin a little hip/hop and uk hardhouse) and i use the x-fader in my mixes to do tricks and wat not.. actually i do that when im spinning some trance tracks.. i like to use as much of the mixer as possible.. only using the volume controls only gives you room to fade in and fade out other songs.. IMO you can do more w/ the x-fader in combination with the volume controls
