Red face Whats wrong with vocals in trance?

I've been reading around and the general consensus seems to be that people don't like a lot of the songs I would consider to be good, mainly because they've got vocals. I don't have any problem with them. I used to hate them, but have since found that they give the song much more emotion and draw me into it more. Sexy female vocals can't be beat.

Take Burned with Desire for instance or Yet Another Day. Both of those are incredible songs with great vocals. Another one I hear being bashed is Satellite by Oceanlab. Whats wrong with this song? I'd like to take a step back and look at the construction of the vocals, their poetical feat. The whole thing is iambic pentameter...it makes the song wonderfully pleasing to hear. When I say pentameter, I mean the emphasis on the syllabols inherent to the english language. Emphasis in the song is cap'd:
"you're HALF a WORLD aWAY" but in my mind
"i WHISper EV'ry SINGle WORD you SAY" and before you sleep at night
"you PRAY to ME your LUCKy STAR your SINGing SATelLITE"

I don't mean the note changes accompanying the words (sounds like "luckY star YOUR singING sat [lower] ell [lower] ite"). I think this songs was designed with musical effect as the primary focus, not having understandable vocals; the music builds right with the lyrics.

Besides, vocals make a song 2x as sexy and attractive. Thoughts?

most people who dont listen to trance as a mainstream genre of music think vocals are gay, especially female ones. hell i love it, its uneducated ******s who are unsure of their own sexuality who complain about teh gheyness, yet they LOVE JESSIE MCCARTNEY LOLZ

Annoying interruptions.

Fake, feather-lite pap. Pulp schlock. Corny melodrama. Inane, third rate highschool sophomore lyrics. Cheap knockoff, added only as afterthought, to sell to pop charts and radio stations. The loudest echo of something once pure and pristine completely sold down the river.

Vocals are a great way to tell a story through a song or just to be used as a coating but only when used well.

Some songs are made better with vocals, some songs are better off without them. It's ultimately a subjective matter. I wouldn't take most of the popular "OPINION" floating around this forum to heart. Some people are just attention whores who will make it their mission to blanket bash an entire style of music they can't agree with every chance they get just to feel better about themselves.

vocals in songs are fine when they are done right. the songs that you mention have horrible vocals. both poorly written and terribly incorporated into the songs.

Don't make the elitist pricks in this forum influence you from liking what you want to like........

But a lot of vocals in trance are really stupid and cheesy. This is a fact.

The reason why it most often dont work is cause theyre overdone. too much, too "raise to roof" intended.
delicate use of vocals on the other hand... can send shivers through the spine for sure.
