Yea, im like that as well. I am just at school thinking about it and when i get home, it's all gone . What helps sometimes is actually putting your pattern or melody on paper. Use your own method. I actually sometimes draw out (on regualr folder paper while at school in class not paying attention ) the sequencer/piano roll (yepp, i use FL Studio) bars and put fill in the blocks. once i get home and look at it, it helps me remember what i was thinking at the moment. One time i tried to do that for a pretty complex percussion beat with ideas that sprouted from who knows what. I got home, put everything thing in its place like how it was on paper...and then...i press played. sounded like crap. But from there, i changed some things around and fixed the not so good ideas i had earlier in the day when i wasn't on the comp into good ones when i can finally try them out. But, it's your call. Helps me remember some simple things. U should try it.
