[ progressive / tech house ] Retrobyte - October 2005 Set
Hey all - just finished another nice long prog. house set (just barely fits on a CD). This one has a little bit more of a techy influence, and it gets a bit darker then most of my stuff. Here's the tracklist!
01. Esthero - We R In Need of a Musical Revolution (Intro Acapella)
02. Rachael Starr - 'Till There Was You (Mazi Tech House Mix)
03. Kaan Duzarat - Organic Intellectual
04. Deep Dish - Swallow Me
05. Michael Burns - Sunshine In My Shadows
06. Chuck Lepley - Lowlight Passion (Emsley's Aural Sex Remix)
07. Suicide Sports Club - Last Ghost In Town (Redanka Mix)
08. Crane & Stroud - Anatek
09. Funk Harmony Park - Planet P (Bedtime Mix)
10. Gabriel & Dresden - Arcadia (Gabriel & Dresden Swing To Chunk Mix)
11. Ozgur Can - Connected (Totem Pole Mix)
12. Luke Walker vs. The Streets - Don't Mug Your Alias (Retrobyte Bootleg Mix)
13. Mathias Schaffhäuser - Coincidance (Trentemøller Remix)
14. Coburn - We Interrupt This Program (Interrupted Vocal Mix)
The entire first half though is all good fun. Mostly new stuff, but a couple of good oldies (I love that Michael Burns track). I also included a nifty little mash-up I did on the fly, then cleaned up - Luke Walker's awesome "Alias" track running under the acapella for The Streets' "Don't Mug Yourself." I like throwing in these mashups If ya'll need a cuesheet, I'll throw one up. Just lemme know. Let me know what you all think!
I was getting ~150k DL speed- who do you host with?

Was that a complaint or a compliment? My ex actually hosts me - he runs a hosting company over at Divide0.net. Thanks for the download...lemme know what you think
Not a complaint =] Usually I get any where from 50-75 DL speed from the sites that people host their music on.. ugh.
Im going to listen while I prefunk before tonights festivities! You wont want a drunken review so Ill get back at ya tomorrow most likly.

yeah, I host my music on my own server. I don't like stuff like YouSendIt or RapidShare - they're never dependable :P

Transitions: spot on; well done sir.
Programming: smmmooooth; each flowed well with each other yet you mixed it up enough to keep me entertained. I get bored with prog most of the time.
I liked almost all of the tracks. My favorite was the one playing at 28:xx I kept rewinding it and playing it again hahaa. There were a couple towards the end that I didnt really care for like the last track and one other.
The outro was creative- Im not familar with the track so I wasnt sure if thats how it ends or if you were messing with the effects.
Its a solid set that I'll be keeping in rotation for a while.
If you like Hard Trance\NRG feel free to check out my set and review, if you arent into that flavor then no worries =]
Just like to say this is fcuking great set by the way, lovin a lot of the tunes - great selection, keep it up

I'm glad you liked it I took it in a little bit of a different territory at the end, but after the Gabriel & Dresden track I knew I needed to go somewhere different and go a little bit out of that strict proghouse territory. The bootleg fit in pretty nicely too!

I was mostly just messing around with a couple effects with a little bit of restructuring. I just got bored with letting an outro run until the last beat, and I wanted something a little bit different.

I'm afraid I don't really have much of an exposure to the genre I'll check it out though!

loved the style of this one, entertaining and kinda chill for the most part. lighthearted.
love the intro accappella.
great mixing and awesome track selection as always.
nothing really to complain about except that i thought arcadia was a little out of place, but that's just a bit of my personal opinion.
nice style retrobyte, keep it up. this mix is definately a keeper for me.
edit: oh and i think my favorite track has to be, for me, the one at about 19 min.. fukkin cool one mate.

oh, I'm not going to lie - Arcadia was totally filler I just was just at a completely lack of ideas for how to link the two sections together, and when in doubt, put in a Gabriel & Dresden track!

forgot to add this:
that track is Michael Burns - Sunshine In My Shadows. it's available on Little Mountain records - the whole EP is absolutely SICK. another track on it, "Forwards," is one of my favorite EDM tracks of all time. download it on beatport or something, it's cheap and brilliant
