Lots of psy getting posted up here the past couple of day of all sorts of styles. More than usual anyway

Very twisted, really diggin this. I thought it was going to be a really dark proggy number, but then those phased synths kicked in. Pretty melodic like you say, but you keep it dark and evil the whole way through.

The change at 3.50 is great. Plenty of drive, then it just drops to that solid beat. Nice =) 6.36 is just fantastic. Dark and uplifting at the same time. Really awesome climax here.

Mastering is pretty good, but theres a lot of synth layers in the upper mids that could really do with a boost. Just feels a tad flat at the moment. Also the kick/bass could pump a bit more too I think. Its pretty solid but could do with a bit more compression.

The track could maybe do with more random rises and cuts just to keep it interesting. Mainly in the buildup before the big melody. Just a few fx samples here and there maybe??

Great track, would love to hear more of your work. Please PM me if you post up any others =)

Very driving opening. Good work on that.

Some of your percussive sounds get muddy halfway through the third minute. Hard to avoid, with all the layers you have, but you should do what you can if you haven't already.

I like the pads at around 4:15.

7:44!!!

You've got such an interesting line here. You mix uplifing melodies with the twistedness of psy. I love it.

thanx for the positive replies and the criticism. it really helps me on finishing this one.

the arrangement isn't quite finished yet, there will be some subtle changes to keep in interesting the whole time.

at the moment it's just a somewhat rough mixdown, so the tracks will hopefully be separated better in the final mix to avoid the mentioned muddy parts. kick/bass combo needs more presence in the mix and the bassline some more frequencies in the sub area, by lowering the highpass a bit. more "brilliant" sounding lead considering the higher frequencies, ...

axolotyl, sure, i'll send you a message.

Hey banjankri, I always liked your style... looking forward to hear your tune...
Pretty good bouncing rythm. I think that the buildup is a little too slow. You could insert more surprises like FX and stuff. Or build up a more massive percussion over time.
I dont really love the gated synth, it seems a little repetitive. Try some more variation on the gating... The little melody you introduce @2:40 is very nice and original however.
3:20 is hardcore and I kinda like it, you could maybe improve the trippiness by adding some intense filter sweeps and some modulation.
The kick and bass are kinda standard, but they work very well.
Now @4:10: Good pads here, although you might consider a highpass filter on them, in my opinion they are a little too "warm" compared to the rest...
6:20 ... oh, this is really wicked. Gets really great here.

I have to say the atmosphere is very good. Although the track itself is not explicitely dark, the whole atmosphere is very obscure and the tune reminds me of a secret slowly being revealed.

The mastering needs maybe a little more clarity, in my opinion the tune sounds a little muffled, but otherwise well mastered.
great job, keep it up

The buildup was fantastic. I like that sudden change at 4:00, makes it sound like a different track was mixed in. No complaints here

Interesting track. Lots of fx.
The bass line does not change throughout. It becomes monotinous.
Love the layer that appears @ 1:20. Im glad that this progresses into funky a groove @ around 2:40.
@ 3:50 its a bit repetitive. Nice fx.
Great pads. I think it would benefit with some high pads swirling above.
The layering is suberb around 8:00. Great synth selections. I reckon some more weird layers would help drive this track.

Excellent work mate. I really love this sort of dark psy.

Xeno.
