Cool

Hey everyone,

This was taken from djmag website. Personally I don't care for it much, but hey, it's a fun topic to take a look at. One question, where is Max Graham and Armin Van Buren?

Peace,
Steve

An awful lot of Brits on it - maybe it's some kind of DJ-gene which are prevalent there

Hum, where are Vincent De Moor, Armin Van Buuren, Johan Gielen, Blank & Jones, Marino Stephano, DJ Quicksilver and Agnelli & Nelson?

Loads of names on that list I have NEVER heard of. Oh well...

Never would've thought that Tall Paul or Seb Fontaine would appear before Tiesto..
I think this list is a bunch of bullshit and doesn't represent fairly how popular DJs are.
The magazine itself seems not trustworthy either. For instance it says that appearnce of Tiesto in top 50 indicates popularity of Hard House in year 2000..

I personally never heard Tiesto play hard house.

Did they happen to mention the criteria used to rank them? I could see why Oakenfold/Sasha/Digweed top the list if they use something like cd sales etc.

I voted!!!! The only person that I voted for that was in the top 10 was Fergie...

But I also voted for Timo Maas and Anthony Pappa who are in the top 20...and DJ Tiesto and Ferry Corsten were in the top 30...

I dun agree so much about the majority of the top ten, but hey thats my opinion right!! I read djmag.com that people voted for BT who doesn't even spin!! So that's why Theres No Vincent de Moor and Quicksilver cuz they are mainly producers...

One thing I do think is that you won't agree to this list is because there's djs that spin other genres of music so it's not all trance.. I duno if I said it right...

anyways, notice many of the djs are of UK origin and since it's a UK mag I think that many UK peeps voted, I dunno I love djmag I buy it often..

latez...

we should have our own tranceaddict poll that can be tabulated like an actual vote, I have a feeling it will be Very different from the dj mag poll...

latez for real now...

Hey Guys,

This list is not supposed to represent popularity. Voters were supposed to indicate who they thought spun the best set. The majority of voters were from the UK so therefore there is a heavy number of English DJs. Armin van Buuren and Vincent de Moor are not on the list because they are producers. Yes they spin, but frankly they suck. I know I'll get flamed for saying that, but their appeal lies solely in the songs they chose to play. Anyone can do that. The Top 100 represents DJs that can take songs that you have never heard before and will never become anthems, and totally blow you away. Yes, the list is strongly UK biased, but it is home to dance music. (Dutch people: You have an awesome scene, but you are a small country, don't be too offended by the above opinion.) Furthermore, as an American I am both pleased and disgusted with the addition of many USA acts. BT is on the list, but has never spun a record in his life. (Ahh, American ignorance.) Sandra Collins and Christopher Lawerance are the most pathetic trance DJs I have ever seen. Instead of developing their own style they choose to copy what is popular in the UK. DJ Dan was a disappointing 94. If you have not heard this man, he is one of the most refreshingly unique sounds of any DJ in the world. In conclusion I have to say that while I love Tiesto and AvB there sets do not blow me away. Where is the emotion. Sasha, Oakenfold, van Dyk, etc pour themselves into their sets, therefore they end up in the top 10. Remember last year, Tiesto did not even make the list. Let's just be happy he made it to the top 25 this year. If you want to chat with me (or flame me) my ICQ# is 48787033. Look forward to hearing from you.

This list sucks!!!

Where are the germans??? Where are Taucher, Talla 2XLC, Gary D., Frank Künne, Hardy Heller, Westbam, Pascal F.E.O.S., Kai Tracid, Mellow-D, DJ Dean, Commander Tom and all the others???
The first three DJs are making sooooo boring and awful sets... And of course there are lots of DJs on this list I don't like (e.g. Stonebridge, Tenaglia, Richie Hawtin, etc etc...).

Maybe we should make our own list. I figure that by the end of year 2002 we have a top 100 list everyone agrees on at least to some extent. =)

I disagree with you when you say that Chris doesn't have his own style..Christopher Lawrence's sets sound different than those of UK and other euro djs (especially dutch djs), and Sasha, who was voted number one is also different from many of the UK djs, although I don't particularly like his style, I think I do see the difference and that maybe thats why he's doing so well in the US. I dunno how to explain, Chris spins in style that doesn't contain as much of the light, dreamy, melodic epic trance that the UK and Euro djs do...

Again this is my opinion but I stand by it..

latez...

And I respect your opinion. It's just that I saw Lawerence a week ago and thought his set sounded very similar to the type of set Oakenfold was cranking out 6 months ago. But again, that is just my opinion. I am sure alot of you disagree, especially Chris.
