when you go on save as. go to the file type box click on the arrow and select the option with *.* next to it (probably called all files or all file types) then put the .mp3 bit on the end

if u wanna change it in windows if uve already downloaded it go to view and then options. u will need to disable the "hide extensions of known file types" option under the view tab

(not 100% accurate as im doing this of the top of my head hehe) hope it helped

if that still doesn't work (cause you use Win XP), you have to go to the DOS window screen. Then you go to the directory of the file you want to rename with the D: or cd mp3/whatever commands. Let's say the name of the file is "Awesome - It Raaawks.com" and you want it to be mp3, then you type: ren awe*.com *.mp3
That's it
hope it helps....

Are you serious, it doesn't work in XP?
What if I'm an advanced user and want to have my own way, renaming files as I see fit?
I can't do that???

well, up to now I have not met anyone able to tell me how to see the full file name in Win XP. It just doesn't work. The "hide extensions" options is gone, and in the file properties you can't change it either. So the only way is to do it in DOS.....oh well, at least that works

Dawn here's how I to do it in XP

1. Double click My Computer (...or whatever you've renamed it too)
2. Under the tools menu, select folder options
3. Click on the view tab
4. Uncheck the box that is labeled Hide Extensions For Known File Types
