Question PHOTOSHOP GURUS: How to do this effect?

I can't figure it out!
I can get the images similar, but never this clear and sharp...

It could possibly have been retraced in Illustrator. That would be the cleanest thing to do.

Now in regards to photoshop

Switch the image to Grayscale mode.

Now adjust levels. Left slider should be brought to around 33
Middle slider it depends
Right Slider 100 and below.

These values vary from one image to another

That's pretty much the basic idea.

here's another way to do it

sorry about that.

n00b. go get some real software first.

have you never heard of the gimp?
well, we're not telling you if you don't already know.
that effect is so old. once you know what you're doing you'll totally forget about it and start using super-terriffic-ergonomic filters.

there. fixed. it's a real COR thread now.

Easy

first

CTRL + SHIFT + U (if you want it to be black & white)

then

Image => Levels => Contrast & Brightness...test different values...the darker image with highter contrast, the sharper edges between white and black

OR

Filter => Artistic => Cutout...fool around with the levels, just experiment...

good luck
