yes thats one of the first things i noticed having to turn the gain alot higher on cd decks i presumed it must be normal.

i noticed that too.

if you find yourself running out of gain for the cd player, i suggest you crank the master out more, then you will have to crank the gains less.

what i do is play a jam, then push the channel fader all the way up.

then i start raising the master, and the gain on the channel until pfl meter, and master meter both peak at 0db.

so far, i have never had to max the gain on a channel to match my levels. sometimes i get close, maybe 75%-85%, but i always have some room left.

assuming you guys are using the line in's on your mixers? tried using the phono in's instead? They are much louder since turntables need more amplification from what I understand.

Its exactly the same with my laptop. Ive gotta use nearly twice as much gain to equal the volume of a channel playing a vinyl.. Always suspected it was my laptop having a shite output. Its actually quite annoying since some of my mp3's have been recorded at a slightly lower volume than the rest and i tend to run out of gain.
