Looking for bass hardware

There are undoubtedly many options. I'm looking for my second synth now, but I want real meaty, analog-style bass sounds.

you should tell us what your 1st synth is, that way we can tell you something good that will compliment it.

My first is the classic JP8000. But the bass shouldn't necessarily -complement- it, I just want something really fat.

i only ask, cause when you're limited to only 2 synths, you usually wnat some diversity, and have all your needs covered...

i'd prolly suggest looking into 'access' if you can afford it, check out their TI line...their stuff is really phatt.

Well, I'm not too limited, I have a shitload of software. But I was looking into the Viruses... TI is a bit steep, though. How is the KB? I know B and C are more common, but I saw a "KB" for really cheap.

i don't have any experience with it personally, best bet to check mp3 samples of it if they're available somewhere...and preferably play it of course...the TI is really expensive though, of course its wicked though!

Hey. I know I say this probably too often, but I'd highly recomend looking into an Oberheim Matrix 6/6R. There is also a Matrix 1000, but its impossible to program without using a seperate software or hardware interface which really defeats the purpose of having hardware. The Matrix 6 is basicly an Xpander but in rack form. There are some other major differences such as the Xpander has seperate outs for all the voices on the synth, where as the Matrix does not. However, the Matrix, does in fact feature what its title implies, a digital matrix patch panel. This was the synth that started the idea of having digital rerouting of signals. There are some other differences but nothing that cant be redone in software. If you have the money and are lucky enough to find a Matrix 12, definitely get it though. Its basicly a Matrix 6 and a 2 Xpanders crammed into one box.

Cheers,
Zac

Any good demos of the Matrix 6 out there? My other concern is that I've never dealt with pure analog before. Is there a big learning curve?

As a side note, I just got my JP8000. It is mint, never used, unopened, case and all. Just gloating.

the "KB" is the same as "B", only with a "K"eyboard =) i got one, it's awesome. i'd maybe go for a novation synth, they are pretty good when it comes to diversity and fatness. i use my novation supernova in every single track i do, both for pads, leads, fx, wicked bass sounds and synthlines. i find it especially good for bass and acid-like sounds

Perhaps you should start playing around with the JP before you begin looking for something else.

I'm buying a second synth whether or not I'm a master of the first anyway. It doesn't matter in what time frame I purchase them, because I -will- purchase a second synth, and if I use them regularly, I will most likely become procifient with both, regardless of in what order I did this. As well, I never stated that I was buying this second synth in the near future.
