Homolka a 'free bird'

Surprised no one has brought this up yet...

STORY

Its bad enough she got the most lenient sentence by playing 'innocent victim' when she wasn't, its even worse that they took her probationary conditions off, not even a full 5 mos of her being out of jail. Any hope of her screwing up, where we can send her back for a probation violation are gone now. I hope that judge gets a pipe bomb in his mailbox by tomorrow morning.

as much as it nauseates me to see Homolka free...I don't think the judge can really be faulted for removing the conditions. Though I wish there were some legally justifiable reason to at least be able to formally monitor her general whereabouts, she did serve her sentence.

Our overall legal system is flawed in that she was able to get off relatively easily despite the depraved nature of her crimes

you know what the fuckin problem is!??? MALE JUDGES!!!!!!!!!

we need more FEMALE judges!
I dont care what you say, they usually are ALOT harder on criminals, especially on things like sex crimes and such.

ALSO, judges should be voted in, and held accountable for dicisions they make!

"Justice James Brunton of Quebec Superior Court acknowledged in his ruling the possibility that Homolka, who now goes by the name Karla Leanne Teale, could reoffend one day."

WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!1 WHY ARE YOU LETTING HER OFF WITH THIS DICISIONS THEN!!?!??! IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

does the judge even know what she did to these girls with Paul Bernardo??!! this is crazy. she has no rights, shes obviously seriously fucked up. why should we give her rights when the two people that died because of what she helped do, no longer have rights, becuase they are DEAD!!!

this pisses me right the frig off

How do you acknowledge she could reoffend any day and then let her go??? There is something seriously wrong with that.

I have been following this story since the beginning trials and there are so many things along the way that the juducial system has messed up on that this is a surprise but not at the same time.

I feel for the French and Mahaffy families....justice has definately let them down

By lifting the conditions she doesn't have the protection against the media or anything else. She will now be easily located and probably killed within a year.

Hopefully before she gets killed, they circumsize her, and pour gasoline all over her crotch.

Actually, female judges would be MORE LENIENT on her. Only a woman knows what a battered and manipulated wife could go through. However, we do have the killer in jail for life, Paul Bernardo. She was not imprisoned for killing the girls, but her role in the killing of girls. This is fact. If it wasn't for her coming forward to the police, the scarborough killer and the killer of the girls may not have ever been cought. I agree it was 'a deal with the devil', but it's common practice to use a smaller fish in order to get the biggest one, otherwise there wouldn't be such thing as police informants.

But don't get me wrong, I feel extremely sorry for the French and Mahaffy families, their loss is extremely saddening.

But the media are milking this story for all it's got. It gets ratings, and sells more commercials. Coles notes isn't as good as reading the book.

Being from St. Catharines, my hometown is forever scarred because of this couple. What they did was inexplicably wrong, no one is going to argue that. No one is going to deny Karla's involvement in it either. The extent of her "guilt" is another question altogether.

The Canadian justice system is flawed yes, this isn't any huge news development by far. It's been the undercurrent for many many years of legal proceedings. Karla Homolka is certainly not the only case where people have stepped back and said, "There's something wrong here." Does anyone remember Guy Paul Morin?

I'm sure Karla will have a hand worse than life-time imprisonment dealt to her. After all, 3 meals a day and a warm bed to sleep in doesn't really strike me as "punishment."

And as reiterated many times throughout this thread, I feel desperately sorry for the French and Mahaffy families. No one can know pain like theirs.
