Yeah i've been there several times, luckily 
* Nadi (pronounced Nan-di) doesn't really have much to offer - it's more of an overnight stopoff point before going to the islands. Raffles Hotel is a good place to stay, as it's relatively cheap and it's right near the airport. I've also stayed at the Sheraton Resort just outside Nadi, which was absolutely awesome, but that's very pricey and my parents were paying 
* Plantation Island was the place i stayed at every time i went. I think i've been there about 6 or 7 times now  . It has everything - pools, nice beach, watersports, mini golf, restaurants, good night life etc. It truly is PARADISE there and i never want to leave whenever i go..... 
 
Most islands in Fiji have airports, so you can catch a small plane there. Alternatively, you can catch one of the big boats that goes around between the islands. Both are good fun.
