Sound is mirrored

Ok, guys. This is really frustrated. I just bought a new computer and to my not-so-joyable amazement I found out the sound was mirrored.

What is supposed to come out of the right speaker comes out of the left one.

This has, of course, been to my CS-playing mate's laughable joy for starters. But not only that. It also messes up my mixing. It's sucks donkeyd!ck, seriously.

Does anybody now how I can fix this?

I'm not sure as to which soundcard I have. VIA or something I think. It's built-in to the motherboard anyways... It's a package so I don't know exactly what does little f*ckers tossed in there.

EDIT: That's wierd. Works fine in Winamp :S Maybe it's just FL? The Counter-strike thing maybe was an accident after all ;D I'll check to it though.

EDIT again: It's not just FL apperently. The config-tool (has a women voice saying "left", "right" and so on) claims something is wrong. Very weird...

EDIT again and again (yes they will keep coming...) : VIA 3059 audio controller it is... If it's to any help for anyone.

Hey. I need you to pay close attention to this. Read all directions before proceding because this could be a dangerous task and it may damage your speakers.

1)Pick up left speaker, sit it on the floor or away from current position.
2)Pick up right speaker, move it to the former position of the left speaker.
3)Pick up left speaker, move it to former position of right speaker.

Cheers,
Zac

just search a function called "inverse channels" or "inverse stereo"
to be found on some mixer programms of soundcards or sound applications.

Well, einstein, I use headphones...

Still. It's a problem I need to sort out.

Can't find such a function. It was the first thing I did.

Dummy question but... are you sure you have your headphones on correctly???

If the audio channels are in fact inversed then you can't really do much about it, unless the audio driver offers you the ability to switch them.

One thing you could do though, get yourself a 1/8" Stereo -> 2x RCA Male connectors and 2x RCA Female -> 1/8" Stereo , then plug red RCA male to black RCA female and vice versa, that way you can inverse the channels. You may loose some sound clarity from using 2 adapters, so you might wanna get some high-end adapters to limit the loss of sound quality.

Fixed it now.

Damn stupid front soundports were dumb. I connected my speakers to does in the back of the comp. Well. I hate when these things happen. Thx anyways.

Internal soundcards should be renamed to Infernal Soundcards...they're ok for standard usage (ie. if you only ever listen to that fucking "tick" sound when you surf the internet) but upgrading to a better one is recommended.
