Unhappy [Dark Trance] Nik - My Darkest Hour (160kbps, 4 min preview)

Whew, it feels like ages since I've actually managed to finish a track alone. Now, for the first time in God-knows-how-long I feel I'm getting there.

I was playing around with some chords and came up with something relatively dark, slightly Oliver Prime/J00f influenced stuff (that's not to say it actually sounds like them ).

So here we go then:

My Darkest Hour (4:19 preview, 160kbps, 4.95MB)

Lemme know what you think.

Cool sounding track - as you say it is quite dark - and quite different which is nice too - good subtle FX too - enjoyed listening to this one...though I wouldn't know what to improve on it as I never really listen to dark trance like this before...

Consider moving The beep sound that is constantly on 2 + 4 slighly off everyonce in awhile, even moving it by a 16th note would add some unpredictability.

B section - good use of panning

3:55 - when both the pulsing string noise sound and beep are together try to match the beeps pitch harmonically to the strings.

Good Start. Good luck on the developing these themes.

listening:

like the panned buzzy bass sound, percussions feels a bit thin, the bass is very nice, i like the way you introduce it after the break.. i dont like the strings in the break u could have made a simpler melody with more tension to it.

ur on to something, but i would have changed those strings, added more sounds, and not changing the bassnotes

Sweet; a dark trance track. cant get enough of them!~!!

I had to turn the track up a bit. low mastering?

0.10 sounds like a submarine sonar bleep. I like it.

0:20 Sounds like a war siren in the back ground. Interesing. Turn it up a bit...

1:30 love the bass rhythm change.

2:10 Ok. great fx. Im getting a sense of the rhythm... bring it!!
2:30 great synth sounds & nice flow into the submarine sonar layer...

3:10 heaps of driving energy.

4:15 whenever that cool rhythm comes in you fade it out It gets interesting & then you fade out. I can tell that it kicks arse; though i don't get the whole picture, so please lengthen the sample

This tune sounds very interesting. You gave me a taste for it & I am curious to hear how it pans out. Great work mate.

Good Stuff, Luvin the percussion work, the beep is cool and not out of time. Bass is nice and deep kick is muddy and punchy...

Strings are very cool, effects in the break are good too, im liking the RD2D things. Awesome breakdown, should leave a few people dead after that thrill

Excellent stuff, >>> moved to my samples folder, enjoyed it all the way.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm going away to Lapland for a couple of weeks, hopefully I'll put the finishing touches to this afterwards.

nice rythem.
I like the precs. Add more ohihats and bongos.
I like the strings.
woot good fxes after the strings.
nice transition.
try to break the beat every now and then.
Also I think that you should add some kind of riff to it.

7.5/10
Omer.

All right then, I'll be finally getting back home tomorrow and hopefully will be able to finish this one off. I'll be taking all of your suggestions into account... and possibly a 303 line...

I think I also need to cut down the length a bit, as it's almost 11 mins as it is and I don't think it can hold the energy for that long.
