Ferry and A&B review

okay, was so looking forward to seeing this show and damnit, i was so exhausted from friday night, i gotta stop this 2 nights in a row business!

the opening dj, whoever he was, i'm sorry but had to have played the worst set i've ever heard, he went from top 40, toR&B, to maybe the only 2 great house tracks he played, my ears were hurting. sorry, i try never to say bad things but come on, his mixing was, well i think i could have done better, this set last night made james lavelle's set when he opened for holden look flawless. okay, enough said.......

then here comes ferry and immediately the crowd is jumping. great track selections as always, but damn it he didn't drop rock your body. the place was packed and the washing machine alliance was in full affect but we had our body guards to surround us, thank you simon, randy and curly for that protection.

A&B gets up and all 3 of them were there damn it and me without my camera! crystil and i could only make it for about an hour of their set though, i actually started falling asleep upstairs, i almost pulled a tigo from love parade it has no reflection on A&B set, they came right on and killed it, the crowd was loving every minute of it as i was but my body just said enough and i had to go.

i must of looked tired too b/c i had way too many people ask me what was wrong and even strangers telling me to smile, that's pretty bad considering i'm usually the one with the smile plastered on my face and dancing up a storm. oh well, still a great night of music.

great seeing all the TAs there. way too many to list but you guys know who was there and i always love hanging with you, definitely make the night more enjoyable. came home around 5 am, grabbed some Mcdonalds and crashed. my body was numb from lack of sleep. hope everyone had a great night!

I agree...this was such an amazing night! I arrived just before midnight and waited in the huge GrooveTickets will call line outside the door (which offered the side benefit of missing the opening DJ!) Once inside, there was a huge white curtain in front of the stage illuminated with various colored dancing lights and some pretty cheesy music playing.

I went upstairs by the lighting booth, and a guy came up and asked me if I was Ferry Corsten! I politely said "yes" and gave him my autograph (just kidding). The lighting guy said that Ferry was behind the stage and would be coming on soon, so I stayed upstairs and took a short video of the curtain dropping just a few minutes later!

Avalon was beyond packed, haven't seen it that crowded in a long, long time. Never seen so many heads swinging left & right the whole night, a do-it-yourself laundromat for sure! Ferry's set really went off and had the crowd pumping, he seemed to be dressed up a bit for his birthday.

Not to say that Ferry wasn't good, but at 4 a.m., Above & Beyond really blew the roof off the place. Never seen a club so packed that late, might have even been more crowded than at midnight? Tony, Paavo and Jono were all on stage and seemed to be having the time of their lives. Each one of them went to the front of the stage and shook hands, signed almost anything put in front of them at least once during the night. I think Andy Moor's "Halcyon" was the high point of the night for me, especially since Andy will be here next Friday!

At 6 a.m., you still wouldn't believe how incredibly packed the dance floor was! The crowd only began to thin out a little between 6 and 7 a.m. Once A&B played the last song, they immediately jumped off stage to the right side and started signing autographs again. The bouncer said "everyone out, the club is closed" and Paavo replied "can't we just have some pictures here?" and received a nod of approval (the British accent didn't hurt, eh?) A few more pictures and Paavo said they still had some shopping to do and needed to go.

Blank & Jones, Ferry Corsten, and all three members of Above & Beyond in the same weekend! OW, my feet hurt, but what a amazing weekend!

I always judge dancers by what they do during the breakdown, these girls sat there wondering wtf to do.
