Question Ableton pitch

Hi y'all
2 questions if I may:
1. I got ableton,... using a laptop I find it very dificult to control the pitch with the laptop touchpad. I'm trying to mix from TTs to ableton in a 2 TTs + ableton setup. For those of you, how do you change the pitch? I don't think I can get used to the touchpad

2. I've never used CD players to mix, but getting gigs recently where CDjs are always available, the temptation is too much. For those who have used TT and CDjs; would it be too risky to take a CD and try it out live? I'd play what I play @ home with ableton

thanks

if you mixed on vinyl, id rather you dont play live of cdjs for the 1st time, cause theres a pretty big difference, although it may seem easy

maybe ssl/fs2 would be a better option than ableton

There is nothing wrong with CDs. It would be better if you could do a set or two on CDs at a friends house before you do it live, but if you can mix on vinyl you should be able to mix just fine on CD decks. Actually I think they're a bit easier.
