Yes I understand you. You know, I mix since 1994 and the best years of Trance was for me 1999 & 2000.
Nowadays it's different : good too but different.

I agree, 1998 till 2001 were the best years for trance. Tracks like Binary Finary - 1998/1999/2000, Push - Legacy/Universal Nation/etc., Moogwai - Viola and so on and on are tracks that will always be amongst my favourites

Yes I agree with you. And even we continue to have some good traxx now, it's impossible to forget such productions. I think that this kind of songs have realy given this good reputation to trance music. And I think that Gouryella hase also participated to this job.
Bye.

Nah, 1996-1998 was the heyday . There's a lot of really good trance being produced right now, but you're not going to find too much of it on the major labels. They're on all those small psytrance compilations that you get on psyshop. The "Revelations" compilation is AMAZING.

Sure, but because it was not as commercial as in 1999, a lot of people didn't know the real trance. After 1998, it was a real explosion of well known traxx. Pure happiness I think.

hmm. I guess I just don't think that most popular "trance" produced from 1999-present is that ...well, "trancey" and shouldn't be called trance. Maybe "emotional electronic dance music" or "nordictracking/stairmaster music" (at least in LA) or something like that. When I think trance I think "E Razor - Mantra" or "Astral Projection - Mahadeva" or "Strange World", not the big synth-spastic 'anthems' you hear alot. That's just my opinion.
There are exceptions (MIKE and JOOF, first and foremost), though, and psytrance in general does well (minus all the damn hippies).

Yes I see what you mean. I'm not a fan of psytrance even if I like this style too. I must say that I prefer the deep synths and vocals of trance coming from Germany, Netherlands or Switzerland (it's a choice).
I think that you use 'anthems' in your last post because you consider that "my" trance is a little bit too commercial for you. I love synths and good vocals and it's not for the commercial side but only because psytrance looks for me a little bit dark or not as "happy" as the nordic sound. I hope you'll understand what I mean, it's just an opinion too and not a bad remark !
At the end I think that the trance community needs the both sounds.
Respect.
