[Prog/Trance] William Vance - The Code Within [224 kbps Sample]
Hey,
I'm back, with a progressiveish, tranceish, not very good at classifying genres. I'm definately going to let this simmer for a day or so, see how I feel about it later.
I posted this on EDMOhio.com as well but I'll go ahead and post it up here.
Okay, just gave this another serious listen or two.
I'm really enjoying this track. Here's a few notes I jotted down to see if I can help:
00:54 - Love the L + R panning of the synth here.
01:11 - Nice snare roll.
01:21 - These pads are heavenly! I absolutely love them. Excellent emotional atmosphere created with them.
02:22 - Love the melody that starts fading in here. Around 2:34 however, it crescendos and engulfs the sound for a couple seconds. I think some kind of EQing or, more likely, a compressor is necessary here to maintain a smooth filter-in of that lead. Love its melody and sound though.
This is an excellent track but there's definitely some mastering issues. After listening to it on headphones I can hear that something is drastically wrong with that clap. I can't tell if it's aggressively compressed, or if it's clipping... but it sounds distorted. Or perhaps it is an effect that my ears are misinterpreting.
Once these issues are worked out, I think it will turn from a really good song into a killer track! Just my thoughts!

Thanks david, I really appreciate your response. And what I'm doing right now, is I'm replacing my sound system, like temporarily to something good, and then I'll listen on my own headphones, and I'll definately correect some errors or flaws you pointed out.
