familiar with goa/psy trance?

i was just wondering if you guys include goa/psy trance in your trance sets (alongside tiesto, armin, etc...) or is goa/psy in a category of its own. i am interested in gettin' some goa/psy, but wonder if i will be able to mix with them (and sound good while doing so). do any of you guys have experience/opinions with goa/psy trance.

thanks
bisco

John 00 fleming did a mix cd for IDJ magizine i think it is a while back called an introduction into psy trance. some of the earlier tracks on it might give you some idea of what not full on psy trance is like, dunno where/if u can get it tho, maybe back issues/ebay/download or something

Listen to the goa/psy station on di.fm some pretty good stuff

I've always wanted to include some goa/psy in my sets but they seem so much different from trance.

Booo Psy = Balls, Kidding though i have to say that iv been put off by psy recently due to the ammount of drug heads that tend to go to psy events. ITs getting fucking big ass down here in brazil which is pissin me off cuz allot of it is repetative. Though keep in mind this is coming from and i play breaks and prog house so im probly no the most balanced opinion. You might wanna check out Wreked machines, Astrix and Infected mushroom they are fairly good psy ill admit.

I find that psy can work well with hard house or techy stuff. It's pretty hard to do a transition from slow groovy house or emotional melodic trance to psy because it's fast, energetic and dark. You need to find something similar to mix it in and out of. So yeah, psy can work in a trance set, but you need a progression of genres before you get to it. Example:

trance > techtrance > techno > psy

or

trance > (darker) trance or techtrance > goa > melodic psy > more abstract psy
