Yahel - Voyage (Arctic Breeze vs. CoDe-X Remix)

Hey, here's our entry for the remix compo. Finished in third place. We're quite happy with it.
Please have a listen to it and give us your comments.

LOL..

this is the style that I wanted to achieve in my remix in the first place
its really nice dark and groovy, the buildup sounds really nice, though im very dissapointed by the overdelayed/released lead synth..
imo it doesnt fit the style..
Its nice that you tried to make a new sort of melody! I like that very much
you wouldve got full marks on everything from me man!

Build-up is very much your style. I could almost hear this one as an Arctic Breeze original. I don't know what CoDe-X did for this, but I'm certainly hearing you in here.

Ooh, off beat stabs. Taking a hint from Hard Trance, I see.

It's a good mix, if a bit standard-sounding. Good work.

Sounds quite cool... a tad bit dark and uplifting... quite cool i must say...

Mixing is top notch

I didn't like the intro the way it started out... Also, some of the synths in the middle have too much "fizz" in it which I just didn't seem to like...

Sounding quite good... and congrats on beating me by 1 point! grrr!

j/k

Great job with this remix

CoDe-X has been my right hand on this remix, tho he sat to the left of me when we made this He has helped me with the structure and arrangement of the track as well as the mixing. His computer could handle the project file, mine couldn't.

And thanks for your comments, I've just moved and I haven't got internet at home untill next friday. So you'll get your rewievs then

Didn't really like the way it started either. The first minute or so felt a bit pointless. From 1:20 or so it's starting to pick up. Percussion at 1:50 sounds a bit too loud.

3:12 had a kind of 'woah' effect. At this point I'm liking the buildup but it's a tad long.

Lead sounds very nice (and original). At the 6:00 mark it almost feels like a different track altogether.

When we first made the remix we just kept on building on the intro and we didn't get all the elements in place untill it was 5 minutes. So we had to cut in halfways and drop some stuff. I understand if people think the buildup is long, I like to make it that way

yep, definitely dark. i like what you've done with this, removing the "cheesy" element of the original and putting your signature on it. as somebody commented, something about the way it starts doesn't do it for me.

good stuff

just for the record, I did more than just sit by his his and hold his hand
I'll be the first to admit that Arctic did most of the work on this remix, but we where still a team and we did what we though was nessesay to get this mix done.

We've got a lot of negative feedback on the intro, and that might be correct, or incorrect. I feel we did an alternative intro on this tune, and that should be counted as creative. We used a lot of time (composing together) trying to make this track work as a whole, and that ment compromising on some terms. In my case that ment the take off. I feel we could have done more there, but there just wasn't enought time or inspiration at that moment.

And to whoever couldn't find what I've brought to this tune, I brought just about all the sfx and loads of changes during our production. I didn't feel the need to change too much, cause arctic had already brought loads into this tune from the start, but we did have loads of arguments about the main lead

Hey guys,

This is a nice attempt, although I'm not a big fan of it.

I think some of the flaws are some dodgy sounds, like the sounds used for the melody, or the bass, aswell as the clap which I don't think matches the song.

However, some of the qualities are probably that is does production wise, sound good, has some nice patterns (ie. not being repetitive.)

Good on you for getting third place though

I like what you guys have done here! It's dark and full of great sounds - nice texture!

I like the extended build up.. there's a lot going on and it give you time to enjoy it! Though, it's possible that on repeat listens it may start to get a little repetitive. Good job building intensity throughout.

The change at 3:11 is nice!

I like your choice on the main lead - it's soothing!

Overall it's a great remix! You guys should hold hands more often

I look forward to hearing more from ya,
Trev
