Confused Should I go for it?

I am 17 and music is my life!
I have 2 mk2s and mixer and I like djing a lot!
Do you think I should do djing to earn a living in the future?
I am afraid if in 5-10 years dance music is dead (as happened to metal, rock etc)... What do you think about it?
Also wondering what music to choose... I like progressive and trance that much! Too difficult to deside! When I play to parties I begin the set with progressive and finish it with trance (the style of Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, PvD etc)... Tell me your comments and suggestions...

first of all, you always need a backup. i say, try it out part time. no matter how far you get it to it, you always need something to fall back on!

while what everyone is saying has truth to it, the internet is helping poeple get recognized, so I think that if you do try to make it a career you will have a better chance at success thn all the guys on the top now did when they were small.

I dont know if its a great idea, maybe go to school and DJ as a hobby, do parties and stuff (you can miss college, man, its gonna be the best time of your life!) and then once you have **something** to fall back on, then go for it.

Just advise, i guess. The decision will ultimately be up to you.
Glad to help though.

-Marc

dj_alfi I disagree with you...
I will try to study something in university (really hard to get into in my country) and doing parties in the same time... Then try to get myself known through internet... Wish me luck

BTW : HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Come on man!
Need a little respect here! I would be better the poorest guy than playing f|_|cking pop!
The point is to play music that you like (in my case progressive or trance) and making money also
Anyway what I want is to feel like Tiesto in his video clip of flight 643...

hmm

In many respects i agree with dj_alfi , i mean if you want to make it as a Dj , you will obviously get ur first gig in a small local club, but how many small local clubs play trance and progressive only?... in my opinion not many. They like to have a variety of music, like hip hop, garage, house and trance...
and the club will only have a couple of Dj's who plays all this...

They aint gonna fork out for about 5 different dj's to play each different genre of music for an hour then change to the next dj.... each night.

At my local club if the dj played 3 hours of non stop trance after and hour everyone wouldnt me moving, just chatting at the bar.

So i suppose what im getting at is... unless you have a local club which specialises in trance and progressive and has guest Dj's alot, then be prepared to play music u dont listen/like aswell as trance.
