interesting opinion

Today I went to the record I usually go to buy Hip-hop and dance music vinyls. I had a lil interesting conversation with him. I'm fairly new to DJing but anyways...

I said "gahhh I should switch to CDs and save some money"

and he replied with something along these lines: "nah the quality isn't that great blah blah blah"

he said things like CDJ will most likely fade out in 5-6 years.

He said Serato is quickly evolving and becoming mainstream. "All the top hip-hop DJ use it. The only bad thing is that it will crash sometime."

I find these things he said very intersting.

what do you guys say?

He's right serato is more mainstream now, it's a good program but it has it's pro's and con's. It's good for all us vinyl addicts so we can spin our mp3 but not lose the feel as they say, it can also crash deppending on your laptop. But that brings us to another thing Cdj are better cause you have looping and cue options. Cdj Are great since you can carry alot of tunes in a small cd wallet. Deppending on the format some cd's are the same qualitty as vinyl (wav) some are less like Mp3.
Don't take any1's word for it since for over 8 years alot of people have been saying that vinyl will die out soon and vinyl is still strong.

Serato= cheapest since u don't need to burn ur mp3
Cdj= Cheap but as cheap as serato.
TT's=expensive

Hope this helped,
Soliman

Lets just inform a few people on this one.
Probably best to refere to the vinyl/cd thread though.

High quality digital formats (eg wav) are equal or higher quality then vinyl, vinyl isnt perfect quality and it colours the sound, thats what people like about vinyl.

Just for the record, "wav" is not in itself a high-quality format. In fact, wav's are usually CD-quality.

A high-resolution format is something recorded at 24/96, and those files become so big that you need a medium like DVD-Audio or SACD to hold them. And they blow the doors off of CD, Vinyl, Mp3 and anything else any of us have heard.

In a business where the sales of music is on the decline vinyl is the only medium that's still a growth industry.
Besdies, there are a lot of people who work in record shops that haven't a clue about what's actually happening in clubland. Speak to DJs before you speak to shop owners and still only take it with a pinch of salt.

Find what works for you.

Cheers
Nem
