the R5 was first, the nova was an imitation and a rather poor one at that, the R5 was the better car and to think that Renault managed to get a fairly rapid one out of the R5 GTT 
a 1.4 litre turbocharged engine that could be tuned to push out over 150bhp (there are some more extreme versions than that!)
renaults biggest fault with the R5 GTT was the boost adjustment, they forgot to limit it so any idiot at home could turn the boost up to silly numbers, you could always tell which idiots had done it thou as they were the ones parked on the side of the road with the bonnet up and a detonated engine

and an unchaved nova, a very rare beast indeed as most have been chavved up beyond all recognition
and when u see them in standard form like that u can see that the two cars are quite different
