Yes. As a software developer myself I have to say it's extremely disappointing and a little bit infuriating when instead of making real improvements to the product, a company simply hoards its development resources into silly copy protection schemes that cripple performance, raise costs, annoy legitimate users and don't do anything practical to stop the copyright violators.
Many software companies, particularly those in the audio/media production area, need to realize that part of that business is customer relations. To give credit where credit is due, I have to commend Image-Line on their lifetime upgrade policy. This is what Steinberg should be doing, rather than releasing new versions at asinine prices which have not been thoroughly regression-tested and hardly giving any discount to users that have already paid for 3 or 4 separate versions of the same program. The Steinberg ph00ls have their heads so far up their asses on this it's hard to believe that the company is surviving - note to Steinberg, wait until you exceed 50% market share before treating your customers like criminals!
...well, that's my production rant for the night.
