dj_bas vs. DJ RJT: WMC or Bust! (AKA the "Find us a gig for WMC!" thread!)

Dearest TA's-

With the approaching festivites of the Winter Music Conference, Bas and I got to thinking. We thought long, we thought hard, we thought until we could think no more, and then, just as we stopped thinking, we realized something, "Hey, we should try to score a gig while we're in Florida!"

What's stopping us you ask?

- We don't know any promoters/club owners in Florida
- We're not signed to a major label (Or any label for that matter... )
- We aren't part of a major promotion company
- We don't have the money to pay some dude to let us play at some place he has.

But let's face it, we ARE fantastic house DJ's... srsly.

So here's what it comes down to. With TA sponsoring Ultra this year, and with more an more TA's heading down to the conference, we figure that more amateur TA DJ's need to be represented at the conference this year, and not just any TA amateur DJ's, but very specifically, Bas & RJT!

We aren't looking for much, we aren't begging to "get paid," we're just two fun loving, C0R whoring cracky's who love to spin. All we're looking to do is share in what we love while we're on our vacation. And really, when it comes down to it, where else would you get to see a bonafide LA Egyptian and a Dutch-Irish Wisconsin boy tag up on a set of house music that will set your ass on fire?

So where do you all come in? Well, not only do we need the support of the TA's who would actually be willing to make it out for this, but we also need every connection we can get to promoters, club owners, people will poolsides, patios, or basically anywhere there will be a set of decks and a mixer to play on!

So help Bas and I have our wildest dreams come true and get to tag a set together at the WMC 2006, we appreciate any and all of your help!

Cheers,

RJT & Bas

You're facing several challenges. First of all, this is TranceAddict, a community focused on Trance music and not House music. You’d be better off on CJ or even CP. Second, what is stopping you at the moment is industry knowledge. You’ll be in the right place. Be sure you use your time wisely.
Third and most important; Being fantastic at home is fine. Thinking you’re fantastic compared to all the top DJs & producers on the planet is a tall claim indeed. If and when you get your chance to prove it, be humble and thankful. That will get you further than just being good. Good luck.

I appreciate how serious your response was man, but in general this is just for fun, we're not really taking ourselves too seriously, and if we get the chance to throw down for a bit, we'll be happy, if we don't, meh, we gave it a half assed shot you know?

We posted this here on TA because a lot of our friends are here on TA and will be traveling to Miami for WMC, it's just meant in fun, and we haven't really hit the streets hard expecting people who have no idea who we are to just be like "Oh yeah, we should get these two kids a gig!" Our best shot, period, is through the help of TA, and with a LOT of TA's having moved pretty far away from Trance, it's not all that far fetched.

And as far as the "Fantastic" comment, I guess you just have to know Bas and I and understand our sense of humour, which isn't to say that we aren't both good DJ's. We're not trying to say that we're better than Sasha or Diggers, but we both have a good amount gigs out at respectable clubs under our belts, so it's not all that far fetched to think that at least skill-wise we're both capable of playing a good night out...

Thanks again for the support man, I will definitely remember your advice... Cheers.
