Dancing Dude I came to dance.

After a refreshing journey to The Docks Entertainment Complex, and some awkward waiting to enter the 19+ area, I had finally indulged in a little alcohol. I believe it was OS/2 pounding out some trance classics in the tides room. Not bad.

Countdown happened 15 minutes of me getting my first drink. I was bippin' and I was boppin', but I just couldn't stop thinking about the breaks. So I whipped out my handwritten DJ set list and saw that guy "D-MONIC" in the Liberation Lounge. I got in there after walking through the junglist room. My dancing was so extreme I had to remain in the back of the Liberation Lounge so people wouldn’t get kicked. Good idea on my part. This must have gone on for about an hour.

Then I realized the main room probably has easier music to dance to by now (4-4 drum beats, ala house and trance). I went in, and I was correct. So I`m just grooving to some house, not realizing who the DJ is, and my buddy Jeff comes outta nowhere to greet me.

"Sean – are you enjoying Jelo?"

Holy shit - it was Jelo! That was a vibrant set of house. So I started dancing with Jeffs group. Then Dumonde comes on. They are the only trance DJs that I know of who MCs over their DJ sets. They’d get on the mic and say something like "Want to hear more DUMONDE tunes?" or "AH YES WE ARE FROM GERMANY!!!" (Ok...I made the second part up). Bogdan - sorry to see you were injured just before Dumonde went on. Sad! Of course, Dumonde delivered a crowd pleasing performance and encored with New Order - Blue Monday (Dumonde Remix).

Oh - I also jumped into the Tides room during Dumonde and heard a few sweet Pendulum tracks (Slam, Tarantula).

Shouts: Jeff (my former school mate), and his crew (Amanda/Matt/Colin) for adopting me during the night. Monish, I owe you a drink. Thx to the TA dude who helped me with coatcheck, I can't remember your name. Thanks Smirnoff. Sasha & Demitri, Chinaman AND mon. Shout outs to all TAs who graced me with their presence and New Year greetings. Swamper - the secret of your moves are safe with me.

Bottom line: A great start to the New Year. Good job Destiny & TR.

my favourite sets were deko-ze, jelo, and dumonde.
i havent enjoyed trance for about 3 years now (since i started listening to house) but dumonde put on an amazing performance. the energy from the crowd and in the booth (thanks to swamper jumping up and down and clapping his hands through the whole set) was incredible. i give the whole night a 8.5/10. good job guys!

this was a last minute choice of mine to show up to, and well, it was a good break from the all house parties I usually attend and good night was had.

Dumonde is what trance should be. The drum n' bass reminded me of my old party days, and it was very nice to have room to really go nuts for the first time in a long time.

The only drawback for me was the slightly higher 'young munted people' percentage.

Pretty good time.

At the start of the night it was pretty chilled out. Listened to some Dekoze, Jelo, and Mystical Influence... all were excellent.

But WOW, DUMONDE! People told me they interact with the crowd... but man, they exceeded my expectation a million times over. They pumped fists, made shout outs on the mic, cut out the song so we were all singing the lyrics.

As Sasha put it: "Armin who??"
Dumonde are definitely THE BEST djs to see live. Just the fact that they get excited about the tracks they play shows their love and soul for the music. They believe in the music they play.

The only down fall to the night for me was the venue; Docks. I've been there a few times before and had some negative experiences. So everytime I go back I get that negative vibe. Not only that, the speakers in there were lacking bass... couldnt feel it in my chest, even while standing less than 5 feet from the speakers. Also they got no lazers... but then again, they got wicked strobe lights, which almost makes up for it.

Venue: 6.5/10
Vibe: Mostly Positive
People: 7/10
Music: 10000000000000000000000000000000/10
DJ Interaction: 1000000000000000000000000000000000/10 (Especially Jelo and Dumonde)

Thanks everyone for a great time. Especially Sasha (niveole) for guiding me to the TA meet area on his cell from inside the club; thanks man.
