Personally, I have always thought it was. From what I remember, they were the most expensive. But, if you do YD then I believe your insurance rates are lower (but check with your insurance company) and I THINK you can take your road test sooner (but i'm not sure about that).

Either way, shop around and check out all the details, pros and cons if you're really concerned about the $$

And good luck - anywhere you go those classes are B-O-R-I-N-G!

You're right. It will lower your insurance and let you take the test earlier. But going to any driving school will do that for you.

I definatly reccomend going to one. The money you'll save with insurance will more than pay for the super boring classes.

YD is the only place out there that'll teach you how to drive stick, if you're so inclined.

In fact, everybody should go to YD just because of that.

WRONG!

lol

So will the CAA course(my manager recently took it with them for that reason)

But in both cases it costs more for the stick version of the course.

+1 on the CAA since I took it for stick but I'm not sure if it costs more for that reason.

half and half.

yes I did find it a rip off.

Tips:
[note this is when I attended]

They will try and make you take your lessons asap. Wait. Take them when you've completed your 8 months of waiting or whatever nonsense.

Try to do your test before you take their "final" test. Their test is a rip off and I think it's about $100 or $50 dollars. It is unecessary.

Try to get an instructor who has a similar car to yours. One of my intial instructors had a SUV which is COMPLETELY different to drive.

However, I learnt more defensive driving than any other driving instructor taught me.

You will get to learn the ABS which is sooo awesome. You go down and empty really fast then SLAM YOUR BRAKES vrooooooooooooooom.

so much fun.

Anyway, I hope that helps a bit with your decision.
