Timestretching in Cubase sx

i want to slow an audio sample down. i have used the timestretch tool, following the instructions in a cubase book i bought, but when i stretch out the audio event, what happens is it just stays the same speed but plays the stuff that comes after the sample that i have cut out [i cut out parts of a dialogue in a dvd)..so it plays the rest of the dialogue

i used a sony timestretch tool and all that did was put a crackling sound through the event, which cool as it sounds, isnt what im trying to do..ie slow the vocal sample down.

anyone help out here?

I usually use Acid to stretch or shrink samples. the bpm mapper function and the 'retain pitch' stretch are golden.

As far as stretching in cubase goes, I found it to be a bit uhh...awkward, I just stayed away from it and am honestly not really sure how it truely works. Since I was originally a logic user, I was already used to having to modify my samples in 2 or 3 different apps anyways; so sticking with Acid was the best for me.

Thats my 2 cents anyways, if you have a copy of acid with all the new pitch and speed changing stuff

Try this:

put your left locator at the start of your sample, then put your right locator to the point that you need the sample stretched/compressed to.
then:
right click on the audio file and select PROCESS.
select TIME STRETCH.
select SET TO LOCATORS RANGE
now press PROCESS

feel free to add nme to MSN if you want me to walk you through anything.
