Mpeg/video Help
OK...i have a problem.....
i FORMATTED my drive today right...dont ask why...long story...but i reinstalled everything fine...except one thing seems to be weird..
When i watch my music/movies videos in Windows media Player 7...the Video seems to pause itself for a SPLIT second every once and awhile.....but the audio doesnt it still stays in sync with the video....this mainly happens with DIVX videos..but also with others...i really dont think this happened before i formatted my drive but it is now...
So basically i will be watching a video and then it will stop for like a SPLIT second then resume playing.....is this a Video Card problem...maybe i installed the wrong driver...or is it a Memory problem or is it a player or codec problem....
has anyone senn this before

it doesn't necessarily have to be a defect with any of the software, it could be that u have hidden programs running in the background that r wasting speed...happens w/ my comp often, so i close the other programs
peace

If your keen to use windows media player, try visiting http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ , this site tells you what updates are avaliable for windows (I think media player is covered).
Also as AnotherWay83 said, other programs running could be taking up memory and resources, seeing as the playa works, id assume that media player takes up more memory/wants more resources.
If you know how to run defrag then run it, it may help.

Yeah, defraging should help, imm assuming u dont have loads of RAM (like 512 meg +) therefore windows will be using virtual memory (using part of the hard disk to fool the system into thinking its RAM). If you drive is fragmented (Parts of the files all over the disk) then defragging will set things right.
I think this because in general videos are large files, and u mentioned that they only stopped for a split second which could mean memory and virtual memory is at the fault, try defraging, theres nouthing bad it can do .....as long as you know wot ur doing

tiesto14: use this proggie
go to
--> start --> run --> type in "mplayer2" --> hit enter
Media Player will pop up (the previous one...not the new one)
use that to play the files...see what you get.
Personally, I like this better than the newer one...such a bloated piece of shite!

Just tried that, its media player without all the "extra" bits microsoft think we need, like internet seachs about the current artist etc
