Does anybody else think these threads are just getting out of hand?

d!abolic you need to learn how to use google. Every major company/service/retail outlet now has a website. You obviously know how to use the internet, how about putting some effort into things?

actually 131 in an 90 = 4 points

You should *always* request a trial - about 3-4 weeks before your court date you should send registered mail to the provincial prosecutor (addressed @ your court house) requesting full disclosure (officers training, writing on front/back of ticket, radar unit involved, last time it was calibrated (if not laser), etc)

I found out all about this stuff on a site called fyst - www.magma.ca/~fyst - one time the cop was there but didn't provide the info so he didn't want to testify - I was off - another time he didn't provide it, so I got another court date 5 months later (aka 9 months after I got the ticket).

Points stay on your license for 2 years after *offence* date, so, the longer you postpone the court date the better - insurance looks at that stuff for 3 years, so you're not exactly in the clear there - usually if it's 2 minor offences (<50 km/hr speeding) you are ok - points only really matter for commercial drivers (insurance wise).

So, really, getting away with 'no points' isn't that big a deal, that just helps you out with the MTO if you get more infractions, but in the eyes of insurance companies - points or not - it is a conviction.

Don't bother with Pointts or any of those ppl unless you have some really serious offences, you can do what they do for free, you just have to miss some time off work.

Was it OPP or Metro?

If your ticket is 200 it will cost you about 900-1200 to decrease.

They usually will get you 1-2 points off.

I suggest you do it on your own, when you go to court its done with awhole group of people, automatically they will drop your fine to get rid of you, or you can stay and take your chance.

If the cop shows up, your fucked.

Fight the ticket, take the bribe and run. Best option.

It just clutters the page, and takes energy from the useful threads!

I have no problem with people asking for advice, because I do it as well, but that's when I have exhausted my other options. TA is certainly not my one stop shop for advice. Although the people on TOTA are very knowledgable and friendly, they have lives, and the rest of the internet is a great resource just waiting to be tapped.
